Comanche Bloodshed | The 1864 SLAUGHTER of Elm Creek
What would it have been like to be with the Comanche on raid? follow the attack in 1864 as a small settlement made vulnerable by the Civil War is descended upon by a large Comanche War Party looking for revenge, resources, and glory.
The Comanche were a warring culture. Raids were an important part of custom and who they were. For centuries young warriors seeking blood rites devastated other Native American tribes as they conquered the plains. Later they attacked the people of New Spain and later Mexico. They caused havoc for Texas and formed a literal barrier to expansion on the plains. Everyone within a few hundred miles of Comancheria was always in danger under the Comanche Moon.

Comanche Women | More BRUTAL than the Men
Просмотров 250 тыс.Месяц назад
”Comanche women defended their lifestyle to its end just as eagerly and ferociously as the men.” ~ T.R. Fehrenbach The women of the Comanche held distinctly different tribal roles than the male warriors. But I would argue that as terrifying as the men were as raiders, the women played an even more brutal role in camp. Historical accounts often treat women as an afterthought. The conflicts that ...

People need to understand that humans are predators and our nature played a pivotal role in leading to where we are today. On all sides, humans have acted in hostile nature and have commited what we would call atrocities. Have we become better? In ways yes. We are slowly growing towards a peacful planet through constant violence. Sad but true.

Hi and thanks for the great videos. I’m trying to make up for lost time learning all I can about my descendants while I still can. Quanah is my great great grandfather. I’m from the Choney line of wives and Baldwin is my great grandfather. His son Simmons is my grandpa. My father is white while my mom is full blooded Indian but half Kiowa and half Comanche. To be honest I never cared about my Indian heritage growing up. Being half white me and my brothers were teased by our cousins which made me cold hearted to my native side for many years. Only in the last few years have I really became fascinated with it all. Learning the established history while often getting a completely different version when I ask old Comanches about the same events. A good example is Nocona’s death. There is the historical version then there is the Comanche version and they differ quite a bit. I’m still not sure which one if either is right tbh. Anyways just wanted to say ty again. My mom is the sweetest (& shortest barely 5’) little old Indian lady in the world so it is fascinat g to think she is just a generation or two away from being a total savage. 😉

This reminds me of the Wendigo stories. Maybe the Tonkawa became a tribe of Wendigo and so the Comanche felt it was their duty to wipe them out? As you said, makes no sense they were allowed to practice their cannibalism before and then suddenly it was no longer tolerated.

More visious than the men?? I follow Native history & I have never heard that anywhere and would require consideration of context. It was a commonplace for weomen to join war parties -- I have never heard "worse" in the heat of battle. After the battle is a different matter. Then weoman committed all kinds of attrosities upon the bodies. True. I reminded of the woman after Custer's Last Stand who stuck an awl in the ear of a dead trooper and saying "Maybe now you will hear what we have been telling you." So many brave men on both sides died because of "Custer's Luck" and Custer got what he deserved.

Mescalero Apache here. Obviously, times are different now. However I ask in our favor to understand why our people where so hostile, simply backed into a corner and doing what anybody would. I'm not different from you. You're not different from me. Nor did we EARN our reputation as "the enemy" through pure hate, but through an unbreakable sentiment to be free. Nobody could kill all of us, it's why I'm here today and face any racist hate through the eyes of a stoic mind. Our nation is broken, however WE are unbreakable. You cannot remove the belief from a dead man, you cement it forever by killing them. 🙌🏽☀️ Hate me as you wish, we all come from the same mother, our Earth. I found these war dogs interesting enough I needed to find out what breeds they used. I thought sure some gigant Rotty or some such big boys but no, they used little old greyhounds. And yeah, big Mastiffs too. I shudder to think what sort of brutal and cruel training they did to instill ferocity in these poor canines, but when it comes to war, man or beast or any creature the leaders can gain control over, by force or otherwise, they will exploit mercilessly with no compunctions whatsoever.

The Comanche were then rounded up and slaughtered. Systemically at best, genocidally at worst. They were subjugated and forced to Oklahoma where what is now known as Lawton, Oklahoma where the vast majority still live. Their name, Comanche, means “anyone who wants to fight me all the time", which led to their ultimate downfall. Who's right and who's wrong? Well, that's how it went. We are not here to judge history, but to learn from it. He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword.

As a cree i would have hinted the comanche to extinction but my kukum wouldnt let us. She says they are just people and the creator loves them to. Instead we burned the white house down and beat up england and canada. The cree are still undefeated in battle to this day! 2024 still a superior force on the war field. Any crees whonread this should always stay focused on what we can do and how we can adapt to modern society as our ulture needs to come with us. If we keep hiding away and calling everyones culture stupid then we will get left behind! Follow me into the future. I have big plans for you guys. Nicer homes more wealth and resources! I have it all i just need numbers to change the laws and grant us equal rights in canada! We can have more wealth then the rest of the western hemisphere if we do it! But we are all fighting over who is chief and why is cory LaRose so handsome that cree wetsuweten bastard! Also why is oce cube here? I saw him say on a pod cast that we are fake and only black people are native! Now he is coming to canada to our reserves to meet us! Im confused! Is this an apology or did he just find out we exist and we never lost a single fight to any white people ever. We beat the british and the Americans and all the sneaky tribes down south who fucked around. I remember 1873 when the Blackfoot warriors 7 of them came to red deer alberta and asked for help against the snake people who had horses. We escorted the blackfeet home, killed the snake people and sent them back to their mountains! Then we cam home. Another time 17 cree teenagers killed an entire british army with no casulties! The only true warriors are good people. Evil is only spawned from weakness.

As far as I can tell, the Comanches were a lot like the Mongols. The main difference in war is, there were a lot more Mongols than there were Comanches. And, yeah, they were brutal, but the whites were even more brutal. They're the ones who introduced indigenous peoples to taking scalps, and they killed a lot of women and children by deliberately wiping out the buffalo so they could bring on famine, kind of like what Hitler did outside Leningrad in WW2.

My ancestor was killed by a band of Abenaki in Colonial New England, because he was the fiercest foe this band had ever fought. Ironically, because he was tenacious but also fair, and widely popular, his killing caused massive retribution and exploitation against all of the Abenaki bands from that point forward. I'd love this guy to tell my Ancestor's story, because he's a famous Colonial with an amazing history that isn't fully told in many publications.
